Best Montreal Engagement and Wedding Photoshoot Locations
Montreal and its surroundings are filled with delightful places for couples to take those ever so important engagement photos. Whether your looking for beautiful natural landscapes, or more of an urban feel, here Captura Camera's 3 FAVORITE locations
The Old Port of Montreal
First up is a classic destination that will never do you wrong. That’s right, I’m talking about the Old Port of Montreal. This iconic location provides an enchanting backdrop for your engagement photos. With its narrow cobblestone streets and charming European accents, the Old Port of Montreal oozes history and romance. It’s also a location that houses many wonderful landmarks that offer unique photo opportunities.
I love to take couples down by the Quai de l’Horloge for some photos along the Saint Lawrence River. I like to then make our way up through the narrow streets, stealing photos beside history buildings along the way. It’s as close to taking pictures in Paris as any couple will get without actually going there.
Engagement photos are so important. They not only help establish a relationship between the photographer and the couple long before your wedding, but they create invaluable memories for husbands and wives to look back on in the coming years.
If your looking for a less urban feel, one of our absolute favourite locations for engagement photos in the summer time is the Maison Lavande. Accessible from June 1 through October 8, and situated in the beautiful Lower-Laurentian countryside, the site offers couples a stunning backdrop for their pre-wedding photographs.
Once I’m done taking outside, the Maison Lavande is home to a beautifully restored Presbyterian church. Its rustic feel is incredibly romantic, and I have yet to have a couple not fall in love with its charm. I personally love taking photos near the big windows that line the sides of the church.
National Park - ÎLES-DE-BOUCHERVILLE
Sticking with the outdoor vibe, my third favourite location to take engagement photos is most definitely the Îles-de-Boucherville National Park. Just a few minutes off the island of Montreal, this beautiful National Park offers more than 25 kilometers of the best mother nature has to offer.
As the sun sets on the park the surroundings come alive. The setting sun peaks through the trees the foliage glistens, as the golden hour light creates an environment for capturing these special photos. You take take photos by the river, in the dense forest, along a quite walking path, and if you’re lucky, while strolling through the park it’s not uncommon to spot red foxes, and white-tailed deer. It’s a charming location that will fit the ideals of many couples.
